Listed in: Family & Home > Genealogy The early history of the Mennonites starts with the Anabaptists in the German and Dutch-speaking parts of central Europe. The German term is "Täufer" (that is, Baptists). These forerunners of modern Mennonites were part of the broad reaction against the practices and theology of the Roman Catholic Church known as the Protestant Reformation. This Ring is a collection of websites emphasizing the family history, research and genealogy of Mennonites of Low German ancestry. In particular Mennonites moving from The Netherlands to Prussia and then onto Canada and USA in the late 1800's.
